Cultural landscape of Orkhon Valley

The Orkhon Valley is located on both banks of the Orkhon River in central Mongolia, about 360 km west of Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia. The valley's cultural landscape has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site as an illustration of the nomadic tradition that has been cultivated for over 2000 years.
For centuries, the Orkhon Valley has been regarded as the seat of the king of steps. Its name appears in history in the "Orhon Inscription" erected in this valley by Bilge Khaan in the 8th century. The mountains that make up the valley were sacred as the Axis of the world in Tengri worship, but Otuken was especially special. The Orkhon Valley is home to the Orkhon inscription, the ruins of Khar Balgas, the ruins of Kharkhorin, the capital of Genghis Khan, and the Erdene Zuu Monastery.

World Heritage Karakorum
In central Mongolia, the cultural landscape area called Orkhon Valley has many archaeological sites and historic sites, the most famous of which is the Karakorum archaeological site. When the Mongolian and Turkish nomads who had lived in Mongolia for a long time founded the country, they chose the capital as the Orkhon River basin. Genghis Khan has also ordered the establishment of the capital of the Mongol Empire there. The city of Karakorum was built in 1235 by the order of Genghis Khan and is famous for being temporarily the center of the world. Erdenezuu one of the world heritage sites in Mongolia, the ruins of Kharkhorin. Suddenly appearing in the prairie, the ruins are a group of temples with a long history in Mongolia, with a total of 108 high-impact white pagoda and outer walls left surrounding the Buddhist temple. The "Karakorum History Museum" was constructed, a joint project of the Mongolian Cabinet and JICA, and Japanese ODA, which is a short walk from the ruins.

Eledenezuu Temple

Erdene Zuu Monastery was the first Buddhist temple to be built by Ambgai Khan in 1586 using the materials of the Kharkhorin Empire at that time. We are invited from the time of history flowing through the old capital of the Mongol Empire. It has been protected as a national special protected site since 1944. The four sides of "Erdene Zuu" are also 420 meters long walls, with 25 buildings on each side and two on each square, for a total of 108 pagoda. Currently working as a museum. In 1996, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization decided that the ruins of "Erdene Zuu" and the city of Kharkhorin were designated as World Cultural Heritage. Customers can visit "Ulaan Tsutgalan Waterfall", "Mogoit's 45-70 degree hot springs", "Elsen Tasarhai" and "Uvgun temple" while looking at Karakorum.

Beautiful Burd of nature

Burd about 270km southwest of Ulaanbaatar. You can enjoy the typical scenery of Mongolia that you can imagine in the grasslands and the grasslands as far as the eye can see. There are grasslands and dunes, small hills and streams, and in the summer, the splendid "Kusahara" spreads out, making it a scenic spot like a grassland. The appearance of nomads chasing many sheep, goats, horses, etc. may be an image of the Mongolian steppes. Nomads have long worshiped Khugnu Khan, which is located in the northern part of Burd, but now it is protected as a "protected area" and there are rare flora and fauna.
Near this area, there are only dunes in Burd. The fine-grained sand dunes have beautiful wind patterns drawn by the wind. Locally known as Elsen Tasarhai, the beautiful contrast between grasslands and dunes is also a popular travel landscape.

Khugnu Khan mountain

Khugnu Khan has been a national special reserve since 1997. Mount Khugnu Khaan in the village of Gurvan Bulag in Bulgan Province is 1962 meters above sea level. There are deer, wild boar, wolf, roe deer and other animals, birch and larch forests on Khugnu Khaan. Located 280 kilometers west of Ulaanbaatar, near Burd, this camp is in a very quiet environment with very dazzling blue skies and white clouds, and nothing else around it other than the towering Mount Khugnu Khaan. The real nomadic homestay is here. Horseback riding is also possible in the Thai grasslands. There are two Buddhist temples on Mount Khugnu Khaan.

Tsenkher hot spring

The capital of Arkhangai, about 11 hours by land from Ulaanbaatar to the west. Furthermore, there is a natural hot spring in the back. An open-air bath in the grassland called Ugudei Khaan's hidden hot spring. It has been selected as one of the 100 hot springs in the world.
Its source is 86 degrees Celsius, and it is a natural grassland hot spring that flows directly from the source, boasting an abundant amount of hot water. It has been selected as one of the 100 best hot springs in the world. It is one of the tourist destinations in Central Mongolia that people who like hot springs should keep in mind. You can observe the stars at night while taking an open-air bath. A place suitable for horseback riding experiences and nomadic visits. You can also observe alpine plants in the Khangai Mountains and study living things.
It takes 8 hours drive from Ulaanbaatar. The accommodation is a collection of gels for tourists. It is a perfect place to relax in the hot springs while gazing at the beautiful forests and prairie of Mongolia.

Undur Shireet Prairie

Undur Shireet is a campsite in the best location, 200 km southwest of Ulaanbaatar, halfway between Karakorum and on the banks of the Tuul River, which runs through the prairie.
Its beauty is clear from the fact that it was selected as the filming location for the movie "White Horse" directed by Makoto Shiina and the CM for Kubota. This campsite is a campsite with special permission from the village of Undurshireet, so there are no other campsites around. There are no other facilities, town lights, or electric wires, so it's perfect for seeing the stars in the sky!
Hot-air balloon flight Enjoy the impressive 360-degree panorama as the wind blows through the Mongolian steppes. Horseback riding experience is also possible.
