Fly from Narita Airport to Ulaanbaatar on MIAT Mongolian Airlines.

After arriving in Ulaanbaatar, by car to a hotel in the city, where the local English guide shows you the way.

After breakfast, by car to a nomad family's home outside Ulaanbaatar (about 1 hour). You are introduced to the family by the English guide and the homestay begins.

The nomad life experience begins: fetching water from the river, caring for livestock, helping with cooking and so on. Livestock herding experience.

Ulaanbaatar suburbs
Transport: Horse riding (All day)

After breakfast, change into the traditional Mongolian costume, the deel, help with household chores, learn how to make dairy products, ride horses with the nomads, lunch, tend livestock and more. Taste dairy products such as yogurt, butter, cheese and airag, and cook traditional Mongolian dishes together with the nomads.

Horses and cattle are the livelihood of nomads. The day starts with milking in the morning, then feeding, grazing, rounding up horses... there is a lot to do.

Transport: Horse riding (All day)

After breakfast, ride with the nomads toward the Chinggis Khaan Statue theme park.

Visit the Chinggis Khaan statue. Go up to the top by elevator.

Then stroll around the theme park and its surroundings. Have your photo taken with a golden eagle.

Then move on to the nomads.

After breakfast, the nomad experience continues.

After lunch, by car to Ulaanbaatar again. On the way, visit a Kazakh ger.

After arriving in Ulaanbaatar, city sightseeing (Zaisan Hill, Sukhbaatar Square, the State Department Store and more)

In the evening watch a traditional Mongolian folk dance concert.

Highlights and Information

Experience traditional Mongolian life on the grand steppe!
A tour unlike any other, where you live with local nomads in a homestay and gallop on horseback through grand nature. On a trip to Mongolia, please do try horse riding. Riding while gazing at the endless steppe and wide sky feels wonderful and refreshing. The gentle expressions of the horses are also soothing. Mongolian horses are short and small, so they are said to be easy for beginners to ride. Take care not to stand behind a horse. Even complete beginners can be at ease with a led horse: you follow the lead horse and enjoy a relaxed horse trek. Experienced riders can enjoy the Mongolian steppe stretching on forever. On the steppe the direct sunlight is strong and the ultraviolet rays are powerful.

A life with almost no running water, electricity, gas or cars. The number of people who can stay with one nomad family is limited (about 1 to 3 people). For the nomad ger homestay, our staff explain the purpose of your trip and guide you to a family that has understood it. They may be out herding, but most are large families with a father, mother, children, grandfather and grandmother.
Milking, preparing meals, collecting drinking water and fuel (livestock dung!), looking after the horse tack, caring for the children and more: there is a lot to do.

Operating conditions and notes

Booking deadline

For tour bookings, please book at least 15 days before departure (excluding public holidays). If a booking is made after that, we will first reply to you by email to confirm that we can reach each other reliably before we start the arrangements. Bookings 7 days or more before departure will be accommodated as far as possible, so please consult us. (Cancellation charges start from 10 days before, so please note.) Please check the usage guide before booking.

Price notes

This course operates from 2 people, but we can accept a booking for 1 person. In that case an additional charge for a one-person departure and a single-room supplement apply. Please ask us for the price of a one-person departure before booking.

Payment method

After you reserve by email and phone, we will send a travel confirmation and an invoice to your email address. After checking the invoice, transfer 50% of the tour price to our bank account. The booking becomes official after we confirm receipt. The remaining 50% is paid by bank transfer before the trip starts.
