Mongolian-style Ger Camp at Tsenkher Hot Springs
Tsenkher Hot Springs is one of the most famous hot springs in Mongolia. Many tourists from Mongolia and abroad spend their summer holidays here to restore their bodies and health. The hot spring is in the Khangai Mountains, 25 km southwest of Tsenkher soum, Arkhangai Province. The area is popular for its extinct volcanoes and hot springs. According to scientists, these geothermal water sources are near the surface beneath the Khangai dome, under an area of Cenozoic volcanic activity. The geothermal waters of the Khangai region developed at the intersections of northwest and northeast faults and in the breccia zone between Permian, Carboniferous and Devonian sedimentary rocks and Permian-Triassic granite. This is the same for the Tsenkher hot springs. The strata of the Tsenkher hot springs consist of Permian aleurolite and hornfels quartzite.
